Plastic is very hard to decompose. The toxic substances that make up the plastic mixes with the soil. This causes serious damage to the soil and it can even make the soil infertile. Plastics, when burned, release several toxic gases into the atmosphere.

Apart from these, plastic poses a threat to humans and animals as well. Humans unknowingly inhale microplastics through the air. This leads to several health hazards which include genotoxicity, inflammation, apoptosis, oxidative stress, and necrosis. Animals often tend to mistake plastics for food. The plastics get stuck and the animals choke to death helplessly. Thus, a sustainable alternative to plastic is very much required.

Researchers from all over the world are working on deriving a natural source of packaging. However, the organization of Yash Pakka, based in Ayodhya seems to have the answer. They have designed biodegradable paper packets grown from natural wastes. Let us have a detailed account of their work below.

Yash Pakka Business Model A Boon For Environment

Yash Pakka is a manufacturing company based in Ayodhya, India. The company focuses on the production of paper packets that can be recycled. The packets are derived mostly from the wastes of sugarcane. The company primarily targets the reduction in the use of plastics. They aim to ensure the minimum use of plastic for packaging purposes. Yash Pakka has approached leading pharmaceutical & food brands to buy their products.

The Central Government of India also has taken drastic measures against the use of plastic. They aim to prohibit the usage of plastic packets from the following July. The Ministry of Environment listed the commodities that qualify for the ban. Plastic cutleries and earbuds were some common products to be banned. The ministry stated that these commodities were difficult to be reused and are an environmental threat.

The company has decided to put into work the vision of the government. It invests in the production of eco-friendly bagasse. Bagasse is the by-product obtained from sugarcane. Unlike plastics, packages made from bagasse decompose very quickly. The materials are put into a large tank where they are chemically treated. The partially treated bagasse is then put into the triple refining disc(TDR). The material is then thoroughly processed, checked & dispatched for delivery.
